I have been making personal sites since I was about 12 years old, as a way to keep myself busy. Then, it was just an outlet for boredom because I was a little bit anti-social back in those days haha. Now that I'm 17 (almost 18), I suffer from BPD and web design is my way of keeping my mind occupied. If I don't have something to keep me busy, my mind will start playing tricks on itself and cause huge bouts of moody disaster.
This site was made on July 26th, 2006. I had been toying with the idea of making a site for months but I either couldn't think of a good name, or make a good layout.
The name Synesthesia [formerly included "In Wonderland"] is inspired by Alice in Wonderland [obviously], and AFI's song Synesthesia. I had always loved that song but never really knew what it meant. I looked synesthesia up on Urban dictionary, and it came up with the description you see on the front page.
"A condition where real information from one sense is joined with false perceptions from other senses. Synesthesia is often experienced when taking high doses of LSD; the likelihood of this effect appears to directly correlate to dosage."
I used to suffer from Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (back when I was taking huge amount of drugs, all day, everyday, which is exactly what Synesthesia is.
I took out the "In Wonderland" part mostly because it made the name wayy too long and I figure Synesthesia just sounds better.
Synesthesia is currently hosted by the lovely Lily @ P-T-S.net
